1. Match the stone to the room. Marble in a bathroom needs a honed, slip-resistant floor; marble in a kitchen island wants a stain-resistant quartzite or granite nearby.
2. Decide slab versus tile. Large slabs give fewer joints and a more luxurious look, but need skilled handling and a level substrate.
3. Choose the finish. Polished reflects light and looks formal; honed is softer, matte and more forgiving underfoot.
4. Check thickness. 18mm is standard for flooring; 20mm for staircases and counters.
5. Ask for shade consistency. Insist on slabs from one block for a single room.
6. Confirm the after-sales plan. Who seals it, how often, and who handles a chip?
